BOMU’S GRAND OPENING
The opening was a milestone in the history of Bomu which was officially inaugurated by the US Ambassador to Kenya, Mr. Michael Ranneberger on the 6th of April 2009.
Bomu is truly indebted to the Government of the United States for its large funding towards the growth and expansion of Bomu. The extension has not only increased the volume of the patients, but it has also made waiting time for the clients shorter. The doctors and the clinicians together with the nurses enjoy working in their new environment.
In the words of the Ambassador “Bomu’s development and construction was credited to 2009% even more then what the Nairobi stock exchange could offer. Bomu has brought great pride to the US Government Tax Payers money” – Said the Ambassador!!

BOMU’S AWARENESS LAUNCH
This was held at the Nairobi Serena Hotel on the 1st of October 2009. Donors, admirers and friends of Bomu were invited to this function and the Guest of Honour were Mr. & Mrs. Naushad Merali of Sameer Africa. With the blessings of the Almighty this function was a grand success and Bomu owes its thanks to Dr. Chandu Sheth for his efforts.
WORLD AIDS DAY
This was observed throughout the world on the 1st of December 2009 and Bomu with its enthusiasm and zeal made sure the message was delivered to the community all over Mombasa and its outside District.
Bomu together with Kenya Ferry’s and the Civil Aviation Authority ran a full day program at both the outlets of Kenya Ferry – on the island and the main land. VCT was conducted; men and women who proved positive were directed to Bomu for further treatment. TB Patients were also diagnosed.
Bomu fed over 650 children at its site and its program ran throughout the day. The kids enjoyed all the activities that were planned for them.
Project Sunshine our continued donor together with Mr. Fahim Ahmed of Global Tea and Civil Aviation Authority helped Bomu to fulfill its mission of giving the best to the kids.
The children were brought from the Universal Home where they live and our own orphan children who are under the care of Bomu.
FEEDING PROGRAM
A new addition to the service that Bomu offers is its Feeding Program.
Children from the Universal Home are fed daily from Mondays to Fridays and the program is supervised by a senior employee of Bomu on regular basis. This has been made possible by the generosity of Mrs. Zarin Merali.
We wish to include two more homes on our list as we try to get more donations.
Ribbon cutting by His Excellency, Mr. Michael Ranneberger - Ambassador of the United States of America
